BIOGRAPHY

Marjorie Davis is a versatile American soprano known for her warm lyric tone, expressive musicality, and artistic range spanning classical, musical theatre, sacred, and contemporary styles. A classically trained performer, she holds a Master of Voice Pedagogy with Honors from Westminster Choir College of Rider University, specializing in contemporary vocal technique, as well as a Vocology Certification from Lamar University and dual bachelor’s degrees in Music/Voice (Samford University) and English (Boston College). Her advanced studies also include two years of professional development with Opera Viva! in Verona, Italy, where she refined her Italian language and diction skills and observed leading collegiate voice pedagogues.

Marjorie’s performance career includes international solo appearances at the United Nations Offices in Vienna, Salon Brahms, and the historic Mozarthaus, as well as festival and concert engagements across Italy, Austria, and the United States. She has performed eight times at Carnegie Hall in works by Duruflé, Mozart, John Rutter, and Terre Johnson, and has sung at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas under the baton of John Rutter. Her opera and scene work features roles such as Margaret Johnson in The Light in the Piazza (Opera Viva!, Verona) and Madame Dilly in On the Town, along with ensemble and chorus performances in The Merry WidowAmahl and the Night Visitors, and various operetta productions with the Birmingham Music Club.

Equally active in contemporary and commercial music, Marjorie is a regular featured vocalist in Homewood Theatre’s monthly cabaret series and performs as a backing vocalist with The Famous Blue Raincoats, a Leonard Cohen tribute band. Her studio work includes vocal and music editing contributions to the album Moonshine Sugar and commercial vocal work such as the Paul’s Diamond Center television and radio jingle. She continues to be sought after as a guest artist, adjudicator, and ensemble collaborator, most recently serving as a vocals judge for Samford University’s 75th Step Sing competition.

A dedicated musician and vocal technician, Marjorie is also a committed arts advocate and educator with professional memberships including NATS, AlaNATS, SERNATS, The Voice Foundation, SETC, and ACDA. With a background in writing, marketing, and public relations, she brings a multifaceted skill set to her artistic and educational endeavors. Marjorie’s work reflects a deep passion for vocal performance, lifelong learning, and the continual advancement of healthy, expressive singing across genres.
